Privacy Policy

Information about privacy and the processing of personal data in connection with VERGO and this website.

Last updated: 18 August 2026

1. Controller

The controller responsible for processing personal data in connection with the VERGO mobile application and the website vergo.digital is:

FPApps Inh. Florian Pätzold
Obere Freyburger Str. 13
06249 Mücheln
Germany

Email: info@vergo.digital

2. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how personal data is processed when you use the VERGO mobile application, create or manage a VERGO account, use learning functions, interact with advertising or privacy settings, contact us, or visit vergo.digital.

3. Data processed by VERGO

Depending on the functions you use, VERGO may process account and authentication information such as your email address, display name, internal user ID, account status and authentication timestamps.

VERGO may also process learning-related information such as enrolled courses, lesson progress, vocabulary-review progress, achievements, app preferences and information necessary to synchronize your learning state across devices.

Some course content, progress and settings may additionally be stored locally on your device so that supported functions remain available offline.

Technical information may be processed where necessary to operate, secure and troubleshoot VERGO. This can include application version, operating system, device-related technical information, network information, IP address, timestamps, diagnostic information and error reports.

If you voluntarily use speech or pronunciation features, VERGO may request access to your device microphone. Speech processing may involve services provided by your device or operating-system provider. The microphone is used only when the relevant function is activated by you.

For Premium subscriptions or other purchases, VERGO may process product identifiers, entitlement status and transaction-related verification information. Payment-card or bank-account details are handled by the relevant app-store payment provider and are not directly processed by VERGO.

4. Purposes and legal bases

We process personal data where necessary to provide VERGO and perform our contractual relationship with you, including account management, learning functionality, synchronization and Premium features. The legal basis is generally Article 6(1)(b) GDPR.

We may process technical and security information to protect VERGO, prevent abuse, diagnose faults and maintain reliable operation. Where applicable, this processing is based on our legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Where processing is necessary to fulfil statutory obligations, Article 6(1)(c) GDPR applies.

Where your consent is required, particularly for consent-based advertising or comparable optional processing, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. Consent may be withdrawn for the future at any time.

5. Website hosting

The website vergo.digital is hosted using services provided by STRATO.

When the website is accessed, technically necessary server information may be processed to deliver the website securely and reliably. This can include IP addresses, timestamps, requested resources, browser information and technical log information.

STRATO provides contractual arrangements for processing personal data on behalf of hosting customers under Article 28 GDPR.

6. Backend, accounts and data storage

VERGO uses Supabase for backend functionality, including authentication, database services, storage and synchronization.

Data processed through Supabase can include account information, learning progress, application data and technical information necessary to provide the service.

Supabase provides data-processing arrangements and supports EU-region hosting options.

7. Transactional emails

VERGO uses Resend to deliver transactional emails such as account confirmation, password-reset and security-related messages.

For this purpose, information such as your email address, delivery information and technical email-delivery data may be processed.

Resend provides a GDPR-related data-processing addendum and information concerning international data processing.

8. Error monitoring and diagnostics

VERGO may use Sentry to identify application crashes, technical errors and performance problems.

Diagnostic events may contain technical device and application information and, depending on the circumstances, identifiers or other data associated with the affected application session.

We configure diagnostic processing with the aim of limiting personal data to what is necessary for troubleshooting and security. Sentry provides contractual data-protection arrangements for customer data.

9. Advertising and Google User Messaging Platform

The Free version of VERGO may display advertising. Premium users with an applicable ad-free entitlement are not intended to receive advertising.

VERGO uses Google AdMob for advertising and the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to manage privacy choices.

Depending on your location, applicable law and your consent choices, Google and participating advertising providers may process information such as device identifiers, IP address, advertising identifiers, device information and information relating to advertising interactions.

Where consent is required, VERGO checks the privacy status before requesting advertising. Google’s UMP system provides consent messages and indicates whether advertising requests are permitted through its consent status.

Users in relevant regions are provided with options to consent, decline consent and manage their privacy choices. A privacy-options entry point will also be available in VERGO where required so that consent choices can be reviewed or withdrawn. Google requires such a revocation mechanism for applicable users in the EEA, United Kingdom and Switzerland.

10. App-store purchases

Where you purchase a subscription or another digital product through an app store, the transaction is processed by the relevant store provider, for example Google Play.

VERGO receives only the information required to verify the purchase and determine your entitlement. Payment credentials are processed by the store provider. Google Play provides its own billing system for digital products and subscriptions.

11. Cookies and similar technologies on the website

The VERGO website may use technically necessary cookies or comparable technologies that are required to provide and secure the website or WordPress administration.

Optional analytics, marketing or advertising technologies will only be introduced in accordance with applicable consent requirements.

12. International data transfers

Some service providers used by VERGO are established outside the European Economic Area or may use subprocessors located outside the EEA.

Where personal data is transferred to a country outside the EEA, we rely on an applicable legal transfer mechanism and appropriate safeguards provided by the relevant service provider, such as adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses where required.

13. Retention

Personal data is retained only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy or as required by law.

Account and learning data may generally be retained while your VERGO account remains active.

If an account is deleted, associated personal data will be deleted or anonymized where it is no longer required, subject to necessary technical backup periods, fraud-prevention requirements and statutory retention obligations.

Technical logs and diagnostic information are retained only for operational, security and troubleshooting purposes for as long as reasonably necessary.

14. Your rights

Subject to the applicable legal requirements, you may have the right to:

  • request access to your personal data;
  • request correction of inaccurate data;
  • request deletion of your personal data;
  • request restriction of processing;
  • receive certain data in a portable format;
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests;
  • withdraw consent at any time for future processing; and
  • lodge a complaint with a competent data-protection supervisory authority.

These rights arise principally from Articles 15–21 GDPR, and the right to lodge a complaint is provided by Article 77 GDPR.

Requests can be sent to info@vergo.digital.

15. Supervisory authority

You may contact any competent supervisory authority. The supervisory authority responsible for private-sector organisations based in Saxony-Anhalt is the:

Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz Sachsen-Anhalt
Otto-von-Guericke-Straße 34a
39104 Magdeburg
Germany

The authority provides information and a complaint procedure on its official website.

16. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when VERGO’s functionality, service providers or legal requirements change.

The current version will always be made available at vergo.digital/privacy.
